I have come to the conclusion that life is strange. I have also come to the conclusion that it’s not always fun…or fair. Such is life!
It’s amazing that I haven’t caught the Covid virus yet. As things stand now, it will be even more amazing if I never catch it since it feels like the entire world has moved into my house with me, and all these new people have no regard for how carefully my wife and I have been trying to protect ourselves. They keep inviting all their friends over to visit without asking us.
I have spent my entire life trying to get to this point. I’m in my upper sixties and am now just over a week away from retiring. My wife and I were hoping to travel a little, but right now, that’s out of the question. Instead, because of circumstances, we are now sharing our house with our son’s entire family and entourage of pets. There is literally someone up and around 24 hours a day. Privacy to sit and write is basically a no-go. One of my goals for retirement was to have a few hours every single day when I could sit down quietly and write. Right now, that’s pretty much out of the question. If someone isn’t wanting something from us, then the dogs start barking, which sets them all barking. Our nice quiet house is not nice and quiet anymore.
I still intend on finishing this story, and I want to finish the last story I started here too. I just can’t tell you when I’ll be able to get back to it. Please pray that I can find the fortitude to manage to keep writing despite everything else. And I won’t mention another little book I stared a six months ago called What Child is This that I haven’t been able to get back to either.
Please, please, please – stay safe and healthy.
