Chapter 9 – Saturday is a Workday – Part 1 of 3

Riding in Deputy Mike’s truck was frightening, but he wasn’t nearly as nervous as when he was riding with the sheriff.  It took him no time however to realize where the deputy was taking him – out to the bridge.  And he had no doubt what he’d be doing there.  As they approached the truck blocking the road, Chris saw the deputy in the other truck get out to wait for them.  Deputy Mike, driving him, pulled off the road and parked.

“Get out!” Deputy Mike ordered.

Chris got out of the warm truck and walked around toward Deputy Thomas.

“Hey Mike,” Thomas greeted his friend.  “You said you’d bring him first thing.  Thanks.”

“No problem,” Mike replied.  He looked to Chris.  “Say hello to Deputy Thomas,” Deputy Mike ordered.

Very carefully, Chris considered the spelling of each word and said, “He-wo, Dep-u-ty D…Dom-ath (Hello, Deputy Thomas).”

The two deputies laughed.  A minute later, Chris was fixing his lipstick and putting his mouth to work.  When he was done, Deputy Thomas zipped up his pants and asked, “How many has he done already today?”

“We just started,” Mike replied.  “You’re the first, but you’re not the only one he can do right here.”

A minute later, Chris had his second cock of the day in his mouth.

“Nice and warm!” Mike told Thomas.

“A real pleasure,” Thomas agreed.  “Where are you going next?” he asked.

“The judge’s house,” Mike replied as the feelings of pleasure were washing through him.

“Then where?”

“I don’t know.  “The judge’s wife is supposed to give me some kind of list.”

“So you won’t be just driving him to wherever you want?”

“Not yet at least.”

Chrissy kept working, but he listened to it all.  The judge’s wife was making a list of places for him to go?  He had a feeling she would be keeping him very busy all day.

He was just finishing up with Deputy Mike when a small truck drove up from town.  Chris swallowed the last of Deputy Mike’s cum and stood up while the deputy zipped up his pants.  Chris took a look at the truck and saw it was from the cheese factory.  Evidently, they were going out to deliver the round wheels of cheese they produced.

He watched as Deputy Thomas went over to the truck with his clipboard and greeted the two men in it.  As he fixed his lipstick, he watched as one of the men got out of the truck and opened the back of it so the deputy could look inside.  A moment later, the deputy and the man laughed, and the deputy came back to his truck and moved it so it wasn’t blocking the road.  In seconds, the truck was driving slowly across the wooden bridge away from Bastien and the deputy pulled his truck across the road again.

Why was it so necessary for the deputy to see into the back of the truck?  Chris wondered about that as he was being driven to the judge’s house.  He thought about the clipboard he had seen twice now, once yesterday when that TV truck had arrived, and again today when the cheese truck had gone out.  And each time the deputy had checked something off on that clipboard.  Why?  Did the deputy have a list of everyone that was supposed to come in or go out?  If so, what would happen if anyone came in or went out and didn’t have their name on that list?  It was all a lot to think about.

Trouble hit him out of the blue a few minutes later.  Deputy Mike pulled up in front of the judge’s big house and ordered him to get out.  Chris knew the deputy was supposed to get a list from the judge’s wife, but would he be required to service the judge while he was there?  The judge’s wife too for that matter?  Deputy Mike knocked on the door and the door was soon opened by Olivia herself.  With the deputy in front of him, Chris stood back and watched, but Olivia opened the door wider, and he followed the deputy inside.  Olivia closed the door and stood there staring at him.  “That’s one demerit!” she said in that nasty voice of hers.

Chris was shocked.  “What for?”

“That’s two!” she announced quickly.  “The first was for not curtseying.  The second for what you just said now.  I heard an R sound at the end of ‘what for.’  Two demerits…already!”  She looked to the deputy.  “Has he racked up any others yet?”

“No, ma’am,” Deputy Mike replied respectfully, suddenly seeming very nervous.

“Well watch him closely.  Ones like him think they can get away with anything.  We’ve got to watch them like a hawk to teach them they can’t.”

“Yes, ma’am,” the deputy replied.

Olivia looked at Chrissy.  “You know where my husband’s office is.  Go!”

Chris hurried away.  Two demerits – in just seconds.  He berated himself for what he had done.  He should have known better.  His mother had warned him, and he had simply forgotten to curtsey.  And then the shock of her announcing the demerit had made him forget how he was supposed to talk now.  As much as he hated it, he probably deserved the beating he would get for that tonight.  He already wasn’t looking forward to it.

When he came out of the judge’s home office a little while later, he didn’t see any sign at all of the deputy, but he did find Olivia waiting for him.  This time, just to be on the safe side, he curtseyed.

“Charming,” Olivia said with her wicked smile.

Once again, she dragged him into her office and closed the door.  Once again, his face was a total mess by the time she was finished with him.  But this time, she watched as he carefully tried to redo all his makeup right in front of her.  When he was done, she let out a laugh.  No doubt you’ll get better and faster at it in time.  Right now, I have no doubt that you’re wear more makeup than anyone else in this town, and I enjoyed every minute of you trying to put it on.  Now get out of here!”

Chris hurried out of her office and out of the house.  He saw the deputy’s truck sitting outside and he hurried to it.

“Two demerits,” the deputy said as Chris got into the truck.

Chris looked at him but said nothing.  Keeping his mouth shut was more important than ever.  Why hadn’t he kept it shut that day in school when Billy had confronted him?

As the deputy pulled out of the driveway, Chris’s mouth felt overly used and tired.  He could still taste all of Olivia’s juices that had filled his mouth for so long.  He wished he could get a drink to rinse his mouth out, but since he was only allowed to drink from baby bottles now, he didn’t even want to think about that.  Despite having a bottle in his purse, he wasn’t ready for any more of that humiliation yet.

The drive wasn’t very far.  When they got there, Chris recognized the big house that belonged to the sheriff.  He immediately got nervous again.

“Next stop,” the deputy said.  “I’ll be waiting here till you’re done.”

Reluctantly, Chris got out of the truck and made his way to the front door.  He knocked.  A moment later, the door opened and he saw the sheriff’s wife standing there.  He was slow to remember, but this time he did remember.  He curtseyed to her and saw her smile as if she was trying not to laugh.

“Come in Chrissy,” she said as she noticed the deputy sitting and watching from his truck.  “I guess we’ve got no choice but to do this.  Even me.”

She led him through the house, all the way to her bedroom.  As they walked, Chris looked for any sign of either Billy or Miranda, but he didn’t see either of them.

In her bedroom, Alicia looked at him for a moment, then said, “You can take your coat off.  Get comfortable.”

Chris gratefully removed his coat, hat, and mittens.  Then, while he watched the sheriff’s wife removing her pants and panties, he got his mirror out and redid his lipstick.  By the time he was done, she was naked from the waist down and was sitting in a chair.

“Let’s get this over with,” she told him.

As Chris approached her, he noticed her gripping the arms of the chair.  From the way she acted, he had a feeling she didn’t want to do this.  Why?  But a minute later, as his tongue was hard at work on her, he felt her squirming around and making soft noises.  As with Olivia Bastien, it was a while before she stopped him, but he was sure it wasn’t nearly as long as it was with Olivia.  As he was wiping off his face, he saw her get up and head into a bathroom that was connected to their bedroom.  She took her panties and her pants with her.

He was still struggling with his eye makeup by the time she came out.  She watched him closely as he worked on it.  “You might try getting yourself a different eyeliner,” she told him.  “Maybe a pencil kind instead of that brush.”

Chris nodded, trying not to say anything.

“Who picked out your makeup?” Alicia asked.  “Your mother?”

“Chris shook his head.”

“Who!” Alicia insisted.

Now he had to speak a very difficult name.  “Ma-wan-da, (Miranda)” he said slowly.

Alicia nodded.  “Figures.  Finish up, the deputy should still be waiting outside.”

Two minutes later, Chris climbed back into the deputy’s warm truck.

“Any demerits in there?” the deputy asked.

“No,” Chris said easily.

“Too bad,” the deputy replied with a laugh as he put the truck in gear.

Chapter 8 – Home School – Part 2 of 2

Alicia waited until her entire family was seated at the breakfast table.  She had prepared pancakes for them, one of the family’s favorite breakfasts.  Before she sat down at the table with them, she dropped copies of the Addendum in front of Billy and Miranda.

“What’s this?” her daughter asked.

“Read it!”

Only seconds later, “Miranda squealed with delight.  “You made his name official!”

“Keep reading,” Alicia told her.

It was Billy though who spoke next.  “What?  No.  No.  Mom!”  He looked to his mother, then to his father.  “Dad, what’s this?”

“It’s all right there in writing son,” Tom told him.

“But…but this means that Chrissy won’t be in school anymore.  How the hell am I going to do anything with him?  He won’t be there for all the kids to see it.”

“Yeah, well, let’s talk about that son.  As much as I hate to say it, Pomeroy was right.  School isn’t the place for that kind of thing.  Most of those kids are really way too young to be seeing that kind of thing.”

“But Dad…”

“Don’t but Dad me!  From now on, Chrissy stays out of that school unless me or one of the deputies brings him there.  Understand?”

“But Dad…”

“Billy!  According to what your mother told me recently, you haven’t legitimately passed a single course in that school since eighth grade.”

“Hey!  Every report card I got has straight ‘A’s.”

“Yeah, only because you’re a Bastien.”

“Why should I bother with any of that.  When I graduate, I’m going to be a deputy, then someday, I’m going to have your job.  Sheriff.”

“That’s right.  But to do my job, and someday also be judge of this town, you’ve got to know a whole lot more than you do now.  So Chrissy stays out of the school.”

“But what if I want him to suck my cock?  What if I want him to suck my friends off too?”

“Not…in…school!  I’m not happy with you wanting him to do that to you and your friends either, but I don’t seem to have much of a choice in the matter.  Tell you what.  I’ll have the deputies bring him by the office anytime he’s not too busy.  You and your friends can play with him for a few hours then.  After school!”

Billy wasn’t happy about it.  The whole point of it all was for the kids in school to see how powerful he was.

Miranda went back to reading the Addendum.  She got to the main part of it.  The biggest part.  “Momma.  Momma.  Momma,” she said excitedly.  “This is everything I tried to tell you about yesterday.  All of it!  You just wrote it out better.”  And then she got to the part about the baby bottles.  She squealed loudly and excitedly.  “The bottles.  You’ve got that in here too.  I don’t believe it.”

“Yes dear.  I mentioned it all to Grandma and she seemed to like the idea.  All your ideas.”

“Thank you, thank you, thank you,” Miranda said excitedly.  But then she realized something, and her face fell.  “But…it’s like Billy said.  If he’s not ever in school, how will I ever get to see him drinking from a bottle?  How will I ever get to hear him talking like a toddler?”

“I don’t know,” Alicia told her.  “I guess you’ll just have to take comfort in the fact that you added a major amount of trouble to his punishment.  Oh, and one other thing.  Anytime you see him, he and his mother both have been ordered to curtsey to you.”

“Curtsey?”

“Yes.  Just don’t be surprised.”

Miranda tried to picture that, then burst out laughing.

--- §§§§§§§§§§ ---

Chris and Tess were still in their pajamas, still at the kitchen table while Miranda was laughing on the other side of town.  Tess had fixed them a breakfast of eggs and bacon.  The empty plates were still in front of them.  Chris’s baby bottle, now containing cold chocolate milk, was still full and sitting in front of him.

“Thank you very much for letting me service you,” Tess said, giving her son another sentence to try to say.

“Mom, I’m…not…goo-ing…to…thay…dat (Mom, I’m not going to say that),” Chris replied as carefully as he could.

“Say it anyway!” she told him.

He was just about to try, when the front door opened.  They both watched in horror as one of the deputies walked in and headed for the kitchen table.

“Deputy Mike,” Tess greeted him.  “What can I do for you?”

“I’m just here to make sure Chrissy here is following orders,” the deputy replied.

“He is.  Trust me!” Tess told him.  “We’ve been working hard on his speech all morning.”

“Oh yeah?  Let me hear something.”

Tess looked over at Chris.  “Say hello to the deputy,” she told him.

Slowly and hesitantly, Chris said, “He-wo, dep-u-ty.”

The Deputy Mike let out a small laugh, then looked to Tess.  “I see the baby bottle on the table.  Is he in diapers like he’s supposed to be?”

“Chris…Chrissy,” Tess said, correcting herself.  “Stand up and pull your pajama bottoms down.”

Hesitantly, Chris stood up and pulled his pajamas down just far enough so that the deputy could see his diaper.  “I’m…wet,” he told the deputy, happy that neither of the two words he tried to say could give him any reason for concern.

Mike chuckled a laugh.  “Good enough then.  I’ll be back later.  About ten.”  With that, he cockily strode out of the house.

Tess breathed a sigh of relief.  “That’s why we can’t let our guard down.”  She looked over at Chris and noticed a tear slipping from his eye.  “What’s wrong?”

“You-w  wwwight.  I can-t ev-a be no…now…now-mal…now-maw (You’re right.  I can’t ever be normal).”

Sadly, Tess agreed.  “No.  Now do your mess in your diaper, then get a shower and get dressed.  We both need a break.”

A few minutes later, Chris walked into the bathroom and stared longingly at the toilet.  It wasn’t that he couldn’t use it, it was simply that he no longer had any need to use it.  His mother had made him mess and wet in that small diaper again.  Then she had removed it for him and sent him in for his shower.  His life was getting nothing but more miserable with each passing minute.  Fifteen minutes later, his mother helped him get dressed again.  Different leggings, and top, same stupid short skirt.  Once again, the girl’s clothes felt weird to wear, even though he had spent two days already in essentially the same clothes.

His mother made him do his makeup again, all of it, including his eyes.  She watched and offered suggestions.  He knew it still looked bad when she told him it was good enough, but in truth, he didn’t care.  She had him comb his hair again and add his lipstick.  Then she took him out to the living room.

“I’ve got to teach you this too, Chris,” she told him.  “As stupid as it seems, thanks to the judge’s wife, we’ve got no choice.”

“What now?”

“Curtseying.  Remember?”

He vaguely remembered that from last night too.  “But it’s not on any of the papers.”

“Do you think that’s going to matter?  Olivia Bastien herself ordered it, right here last night.  And she did it while the sheriff and his wife were watching.  You…and me…we’ve got no choice but to do what she wants.  In this case, curtsey to each of the Bastien women every time we see or talk to them.  Olivia, Alicia, and Miranda!”

Chris shook his head.  “How about the men?”

“She didn’t say that, so I’ll leave it up to you.”

“No!”

She looked at him for a moment then said, “Okay.  Now this isn’t difficult so it shouldn’t give you any trouble.”  She demonstrated as she gave him the directions.  “First, nod your head down respectfully a little.  Then grab the sides of your skirt.  Put your right foot back, and dip.  Then just stand up straight.  See, easy.  Now you try it.”  Step by step, she led Chris through the process, then watched him try it half a dozen times.

When they were done with that, she checked the clock.  Fifteen minutes to go, but what if the deputy was early?  She grabbed the bottle of chocolate milk from the table and stuck it in his purse.  As she did, she remembered something else from that Addendum last night, she was going to need to be ready to change him at any time, which meant that she was going to need to pack some kind of diaper bag.  She had to have not just diapers and cleaning supplies for him, but bottles too.  It wasn’t just Chris’s life that was getting more difficult, it was hers too.

Then she remembered having to beat him like she had last night.  She realized that the Bastiens weren’t just punishing her son, they were punishing her as well.  She had no doubt that Olivia Bastien knew just how all of this would affect her.  Tess had no doubt at all.

The front door suddenly opened, and Deputy Mike walked in again.

“He’s just about ready,” she told him.  She watched as her son got his coat, hat, and mittens on.  She handed him his purse and Chrissy draped the strap over his head and shoulder.  She hugged him tightly.  “Good luck.  I love you,” she whispered.

He wanted to say he loved her too, but there was a letter in the word love that he couldn’t use anymore.  “Yeah,” he said.  “Bye Mom.”

Tess watched as her son followed the deputy out the door.  What horrors was he heading for?  She could only imagine.

It was Saturday.  The bank was closed but she needed to get to the dry-goods store for some things to put together a diaper bag for him.  Everything they seemed to be doing to him was at odds with everything else.  They wanted him to go around sucking cocks, while at the same time, they wanted him treated like nothing but a baby.  And all of it was designed to make her son look like a total idiot.  A total loser.  A total fool.

They were trying to erase the son she used to have and replace him with something else.  Something that was nothing but a total mockery of what her son used to be.  And in doing so, she had no doubt that the Bastien women were very aware of what all of that was going to do to her.  They wanted her to wish she was dead too.  Well, she was almost to that point.  Her only reason for living anymore was to make sure her son lived.  That was all that mattered anymore.  He had to live!

Chapter 8 – Home School – Part 1 of 2

The old alarm clock buzzed at six a.m.  Tess opened her eyes, but she was so drained she could barely move.  The alarm continued to buzz for a few more moments before she found the strength to reach over and turn it off.  Was death better than this?  Tess was sure it was.  But even though her son had said he didn’t care if he died, she cared…for him.  As for herself, she no longer cared at all.

She had hit her son last night, brutally!  She had hit him again and again.  Would he ever understand how much each blow she gave him had hurt her just as much?  She doubted that.  Did he blame her for what she was forced to do?  She didn’t know, but she certainly thought it was possible.

Six a.m.  On a Saturday.  And she was awake.  She was awake, because one of the town deputies was coming for her son at ten o’clock that morning, which gave her only four hours to prepare him.  It wasn’t enough time.  Not nearly enough.  But then, an entire lifetime might never be enough.  As bad as his life had been these last few days, and as bad as last night had been, all she could think about was that she was now about to make his life so much worse.  But making his life worse was the only way she could see to keep him alive.  He was her son, and she was desperate to see him live, and somehow survive all of this.  She would do anything she possibly could to make that happen.  Unfortunately, now it also meant that she had to hurt him too.  But would he understand how much it hurt her as well?

She got out of bed and pulled her robe on, but a sound out in the living room caught her attention.  Was Chris up?  She hurried to the living room to see.  She was shocked to notice one of the town deputies coming through the door.  A different deputy than the one she had seen last night.  “What are you doing here?” she whispered.

“Sorry to wake you, Tess,” the deputy replied.  “The sheriff called last night and said he wants us making random checks on you and your son whenever we get the chance.”

Random checks?  Tess nearly died.  She followed him into Chris’s bedroom.  She watched as the deputy looked around, particularly at the two baby bottles sitting on the nightstand, one full, and the other one empty.  A few moments later, he was gone.  Was it possible that there had been more visits during the night that she didn’t know about?  The word random he had spoken seemed to scream at her.  It meant that one of those deputies could literally walk in on them at any time at all.  What if she was allowing him to do something that didn’t meet all their miserable requirements?  She had no doubt at all that was the main reason why the sheriff was doing random checks now.

A thought occurred to her.  The sheriff really just wanted to put a bullet into her son’s brain.  She got the feeling that the additional harassment wasn’t the sheriff’s idea, but more likely, his wife’s!  Or…Olivia’s.  Or both!  Either way, she had no doubt that she would be seeing some of those deputies often.  She supposed that she should have been grateful that neither of those deputies had woken Chris up and made him…do his official town job.

She tore her eyes away from her closed front door and headed into Chris’s room.  She turned his bedroom light on and woke him up.  The moment his eyes opened she saw fear in them.  “Shh,” she whispered.  “I needed to wake you so we can start getting you ready for today.”  He didn’t answer.  He just looked at her.  Was that mistrust, or hatred in his eyes?  She prayed it wasn’t hatred.  Like it or not, she knew she had no choice but to force him to do what the Bastiens were now requiring.  She pulled the covers off him.  “Come on,” she said.  She stood back and watched as he reluctantly got out of bed.

“Are you wet?” she asked.

“No.”  A moment later, he added, “But I’ve got to pee something fierce!”

He started heading toward the bathroom, but she grabbed his arm.  “Better not!” she told him.  “It seems the sheriff has added another little wrinkle to what we found out last night.  Random checks by his deputies.  We had another one in here just a few minutes ago.”

“Another one?”

“One last night too, after you were asleep.”

“If this one is gone, then why can’t I just pee in the toilet?”

“Like I said, better not.  My bet is that the sheriff is trying to do everything he can to make your life as bad as possible.  He’s looking for any excuse at all to just kill us both instead of bothering with this whole mess.”

“Then why doesn’t he just shoot us instead of making me do all this?”

“That’s just what he wants to do.  I don’t know why his father won’t let him.”

Chris shook his head then looked at her.  “I don’t care if he kills me.  At this point, I don’t care if live or die.  It’s you I don’t want to see him hurt.”

“Chris,” Tess said, “If he kills you, it would hurt me more than anything.  But if that’s the way you want to look at it, then fine.  The one and only thing I don’t want is to lose is you.  So if you have to do all this to keep him from hurting me, then fine.  Just stay alive…for me!”

Chris grunted, then looked at the clock by his bedside.  “It’s Saturday.  Why are we up so early?”

“To start getting you ready.”

“They’re not supposed to come for me until ten!”

“Chris, think!  We’ve only got that long to teach you a whole lot of stuff that’s going to be nearly impossible.  Do you think I enjoyed hitting you last night?”  She saw the look in his eyes, but she couldn’t read it.  “Chris, in case you didn’t realize it, every single time I had to hit you, it hurt me worse than it hurt you!”

“I doubt it,” he mumbled.

“Trust me, Chris, it did!”

He looked down at the floor, then sat gingerly on his bed.  “Yeah.  I know you didn’t want to.  I know the sheriff was forcing you to.  He’s mean!”

“Yes.  He is.  Very!  All that was for only two demerits.  If anyone hears you make a mistake when you say anything today, how many demerits do you think you’ll have by bedtime?  Twenty?  Fifty?  More?  Do you want to go through that for fifty demerits?”

He looked up at her with fear in his eyes.  “No thanks!”

“Then we better get busy.”

With a shake of his head, he forced himself back to his feet and headed for the living room.  She grabbed his arm, stopping him.  “Chris,” she said softly.  “If you need to pee so badly, don’t hold it in.  There’s no need for you to suffer with that problem too.  You’re wearing a diaper.”

“But that doesn’t…”

“I know!  You don’t want to.  All I’m saying is that it’s going to come out of you one way or another.  And with all these random checks they’ve got going now, we don’t dare let you use the bathroom.  Get comfortable.”

“Comfortable?  In a wet diaper?”

“Is it that bad?” she asked.  “I honestly want to know, because I don’t know.”

He shook his head.  “Not really.  It takes a few minutes, but eventually it barely feels like I’m wet anymore.”

“That would be the diaper wicking all that up.  So, at least it’s livable.”

He nodded.  “Yeah, but the thing gets…I guess thicker or something.  Heavier.”

“Okay.  At least it’s livable.  It was just a suggestion,” she told him.  “Do what you want.”

He looked at her for a moment, then turned away from her and stood still.  She was about to tell him to head for the kitchen when she realized the reason he was standing still.  He was wetting himself then and there.  “I’ll be in the kitchen,” she whispered as she walked past him.

She stoked the stove with more wood and filled the kettle she kept on top of it with water so it could heat.  By that time, Chris had sat himself down at the kitchen table.  She grabbed the Addendum paper the sheriff had read last night and joined him.  “Chris,” she started.

“Mom!” he said, stopping her.  “I was awake a lot last night and all I could think about was what would happen if I tried to talk like that.  It’s going to make me sound like a total idiot.”

“I believe that’s the whole point,” Tess replied.  “Chris, you’re smart.  Very smart.  Most likely, too smart for the Bastien’s to deal with.  So now they’re doing everything possible to try to lower your intelligence.”

“You can’t lower someone’s intelligence,” he replied.

Tess leaned across the table and whispered.  “No, you can’t, but they’re going to make it look that way.  It won’t take long before the entire town thinks you’re a raving idiot.”

“I’m sure they do already.”

“Yes.  But like you said, they can’t actually make you dumber…lower your intelligence.  Chris, hang onto that.  Use it!  You’re bright.  Very intelligent.  Much more than me.  Look for some way to get out of this, because I for sure don’t see one.”

“Huh!  That’s easy, let the sheriff kill me.”

“No!  Anything but that.  Anything!”

He sat there and stared at her.  “I know,” he replied.

“Then let’s get started.”

“I’ve thought about this all night,” he said.  “It’s going to be difficult.”

“Yes.  That’s why we’re up so early.  Practice!  It’s either that or fifty demerits.  Or more!”

He nodded.  “Yeah.”  His eyes gained a bit of sparkle.  “Hey, I can say that with no problem.  Yeah.”  He shook his head.  “But I can’t say the word yes…yeth.” He tried, using the required substitution.

“Yeah,” she nodded.  “Now let’s start with something you might have to say at some point today.  Olivia Bastien hinted that she planned on seeing you soon, so try saying this…hello, Mrs. Bastien.”

Very hesitantly, Chris said, “He-woow,” and he stopped.  He tried the word again.  “He-wo.”  He shook his head.  “I keep wanting to put another W on the end of it.”

“I have no doubt that will be perfectly fine.  Go ahead, try it again.  “He-woow, mmmith-iith.”  He paused then started the last word.  “Baa-tht-iien.”  He shook his head.  “This is so hard.  I have to think about how every single word is spelled and kind of take it like, only one syllable at a time.”

“Good idea!” she told him.  “Do that.  Just speak one syllable at a time and take it slow.  Just keep thinking about what you need to say.”

“But it will take me forever just to say anything!”

“So what?  Let them wait.  It’s their damn rules.  Besides, their entire reason was to make you sound stupid.  So talking a lot slower won’t matter in the least.  Now say it again.  Hello Mrs. Bastien.”

“He-wwoow mith-thuth Bath-tien.”

“Good!  Now it will be a deputy that picks you up.  What will you say?”

“Nothing…if I can help it.”

“Right.  Exactly.  But what if he insists.  How will you greet him?”

“Not the way I want to.”

A little while later, while Chris was slowly making his way through different words, Tess got up and grabbed the kettle from the stove.  She poured the hot water over top of a teabag in her cup.  When Chris finally finished the sentence he had been working on, she turned to him.  “Good!” she told him.  She held up the kettle.  “Hot chocolate?” she asked.

Chris nodded.  “Yes!”

“No!” she said.  “Say it right…the way you have to now.”

“Ugh!” Chris grunted unhappily.

“Practice,” she told him.  “Get used to it.”

He grunted again, the said, “Yeth!”

She nodded and set the kettle down on the counter.  She went back to the table and sat down.  “Chris,” she said, “I’m so afraid of what all these new rules are going to mean for you.  You’re going to have to be consistent and never let your guard down – ever!  From now on, you’re going to need to talk only the way they want you to, no matter what the situation.  Even if it’s just here with you and me.  You’ve got to get so used to it that it becomes second nature to you.  That’s the only way you’re going to get through this without getting beaten to death every single night.  And you know, no that matter what, you’re still going to get hit ten times.  And if the deputy is anything like the sheriff was last night, then you know how much it’s going to hurt.  Chris, from now on, we won’t ever be able to hold a normal conversation again!  We don’t dare!”

Chris stared at her.  “Yeah.  I can see that.”

“No!  Say it right!”

“Later.”

“No.  Now.  Say it right!”

“Yeah,” he said with more than a hint of irritation.  “I can thee dat.”

She smiled.  “Very good.  Now I’ll get you some hot chocolate.”

Chris watched as she went back to the counter.  But when he saw her picking up one of the baby bottles, he stopped her.  “No!  Not if I have to drink it from…that!”

“Chris, what if a deputy walks in and sees you drinking from anything else?”

“Don’t bother then.  I don’t want any.”

She shook her head.  “I’ll fix it for you anyway.  If you drink any, it will be up to you.”

“Not likely.”

Tess fixed the hot chocolate for him and poured it into the baby bottle.  She set the bottle on the table in front of him where she saw him eyeing the thing unhappily.  She couldn’t blame him in the least.  “Okay,” she said.  “Try this sentence.  My mother works at the bank.”

Chris could already see lots of problems with that little sentence.

Chapter 7 – The Addendum – Part 2 of 2

Tess’s mouth hung open.  “That’s…absurd!”

Olivia laughed.  “So is your son…especially the way he’s now going to be.”

Tess realized something.  “The way that’s written, nobody can do all that.  You’re purposely setting him up to fail.”

“Not at all.  Not if you teach him.  But I have no doubt he’s going to have an interesting…not to mention painful…time learning it all.”

“But…why?” Tess asked.

“A number of reasons,” Olivia answered.  “None of which matter in the least to you.  The only thing you’ve got to worry about now is keeping your son in line with the law.  All of it!”

“How?” Tess begged as the tears streamed from her eyes.  “I can’t do that to him.”

“You will!” the sheriff said as he took two steps and grabbed Chrissy’s frightened head putting his arm around Chrissy’s neck to hold him firm.  He pulled his gun and stuck it against Chrissy’s temple.  “You’ll do it!  You’ll do all of it!  Or they’ll never be a need in this town to worry about doing anything like that at all.  Which is the one thing I wanted from the start of all this, and the one thing I still want to do more than any of it.  Now which will it be?”

“Mom?” Chrissy’s frightened voice cried.  “I don’t care if they kill me.”

“No!” Tess screamed.  “You can’t!  Don’t kill him!”

“That decision is up to you,” the sheriff told her.  “Will you obey the law?  Or will you both obey a bullet instead?”

“No!” Chrissy shouted as he struggled against the sheriff’s hold on him.  “Don’t kill her!  Kill me, but don’t kill her!”

“No!  don’t kill him!” Tess shouted again.

The sheriff said nothing.  He stood there holding Chrissy with one arm while he continued to press the barrel of his gun against Chrissy’s head.

Tess stared at them for a few moments, then sank down to the floor in tears.  “Just don’t kill him,” she sobbed again.  “Don’t kill my boy.”

With the sheriff still holding onto Chris, he said, “If you don’t want him dead, then you know what you’ve got to do.  How many demerits for today?” he asked his mother.

“Two!” Olivia declared.

Tess’s sobbing face looked up at her.  “For what?”

“For not having makeup with him and not knowing how to use it.”

“But that’s my fault not his!”

“I don’t care.  He wasn’t in line with the law.  Maybe having to teach him better will teach you as well.  We can only hope.”

“I’m not going to stand here all night,” the sheriff said.  “Now what’s it going to be, a bullet…or are you ready to start learning how to punish him yourself?”

Tess sobbed broken heartedly again.  It was a moment before she nodded.  “Just don’t kill him.  Please!”

“Then get up from there.  It’s punishment time.  Two demerits, which means twenty good swats to his naked backside.”

It was a moment before Tess was capable of getting to her feet.  She looked around and noticed Alicia going to her kitchen table.  She watched as the woman dragged one of the chairs back to the living room and set it next to her.

“Sit!” Alicia ordered.

Tess wiped the tears on her face, then having no choice, turned and sat in the chair.  The sheriff released Chrissy, and in the same movement, shoved him in his mother’s direction.

“Mom?” Chrissy said uncertainly.

“I’m sorry,” Tess told him.  “I’m so very sorry.”

“Mom, it’s okay if they kill me.  I don’t mind.”

“No!  You’ve got to live!” Tess yelled at him.  “You’ve got to!”

“Get that towel off you and lay down across your mother’s lap!” Olivia ordered.  “Now!”

Chris was shaking as he slowly removed the towel and let it drop to the floor, leaving his naked body on display.

“Lay across her lap, bare ass up!” Olivia told him.

Slowly, uncertainly, Chris did as he was told.

“Twenty hard solid spanks!” Olivia told Tess.

“And they better be damn hard,” the sheriff added.

Tess placed her hand against her son’s bare ass that was sticking up toward her face.  “I’m sorry Chris,” she told him.  “Very sorry.”

“That’s Chrissy now!” Olivia yelled.  “Say it!  Get used to using your son’s new name.  Chrissy!”

Tess sobbed.  “I’m sorry…Chrissy,” she cried.

“Better,” Olivia said.  “Now get busy.  Start teaching your son the lessons he should have learned years ago.”

Tess slowly raised her bare hand in the air…and held it there in place.  With another sob, she brought it down firmly on Chris’s backside.  She felt him squirm under her at the pain.

“Not hard enough!” the sheriff said, suddenly getting down into her face.  “Much harder.  Much!  Now spank him again like you really mean it.”

Tess sobbed again.  She brought her hand up and hit her son’s backside even harder.

“Harder!” the sheriff told her.  “Hit him and keep hitting him.  I’ll tell you when I think you’re finally getting there.  Do it!” he screamed right into her face.

Tess hit her son.  She hit him hard.  With the sheriff constantly yelling at her, right in her face, she had no choice.

“Okay, much better,” the sheriff finally said over the sound of Chrissy’s screaming.  “We’ll call that two.”

Tess was aghast.  “Two?”

“Keep going,” the sheriff told her.  It’s a long way to twenty.”

Her son was crying and squirming around on her lap.  Tess kept one arm over his back to try and hold him down.

“Do it!” the sheriff yelled.  Hit him hard or…”  He pulled his gun out again and grabbed Chrissy’s hair.  He stuck the gun to Chrissy’s head.  “Either you hurt him good, or he’ll never hurt again.  Now which will it be?”

Tess sobbed.  No matter what, she couldn’t lose her son.  “I’m so sorry…Chrissy,” she said.  With that, she brought her hand down as hard as she possible could on Chrissy’s already blistered backside.

“That’s three!” the sheriff declared over the sound of Chrissy’s desperate crying.

Again and again, Tess was forced to hit her son as hard as she possibly could, and every single blow she delivered hurt her mentally as much as she was sure it was hurting him physically.  She wasn’t sure who was crying harder, her, or her son.

“Twenty!” the sheriff finally declared.  Only then did he release his hold on Chrissy’s hair, stand up, and put his gun away.

Crying and in pain, Chrissy jumped up from his mother’s lap, stumbling as he did.  He ran for his bedroom where he buried his face in his pillow.

“Now what’s next?” the sheriff asked.  “It’s getting late, and I’ve already missed all the shows I wanted to watch on TV tonight.”

“Get him ready for bed,” Alicia replied.  “We’ll wait and watch while she does it.”

Crying, defeated, barely able to function, Tess got up from the chair and went to Chrissy’s bedroom.  He was lying face down on top of his bed with his face buried in his pillow while he cried.  His bare backside was turning purple and bruised.  She sat on his bed and did her best to hold him.  “Shh,” she whispered.  “It’s over.  But we’ve got to get you ready for bed now.”  As far as she could see, there was no response from her son to her words at all.  Had he even heard, or did he blame her so much that he refused to acknowledge her?

With little choice she grabbed one of the toddler diapers from the package and the roll of duct tape.  She pulled two strips of tape off and got them ready.  She went back and tried to hold her son again.  “Roll over now Chris…Chrissy,” she whispered in his ear.  “We have to get this diaper on you.”  When he didn’t move, she leaned down again and whispered, “Please?”

Slowly, Chrissy rolled over onto his back.  The moment he did, the pain in his backside made him raise his rear end off the bed for a moment.  Tess shoved the new diaper under him, then added plenty of baby powder before fastening the toddler sized diaper and putting the strips of tape on it to hold it in place.  “Let’s get your pajamas on you now,” Tess told him.  Little by little, she helped her still crying son into his flannel pajamas.  She held the covers up and slipped him back into bed, pulling the covers up over him.

Tess turned to Olivia and Alicia.  “I’m going to have to get some bottles for him in the morning.  I don’t have any here.”

“Not to worry,” Alicia replied with a sly smile.  She opened the bag she had in her hand and pulled out a package of three pastel colored plastic baby bottles.  “We stopped at the store and added a tiny something to your account before we came.”

Tess felt like dying again.  Hating it, she took the package of bottles into the kitchen where she washed one of them and filled it with milk from the refrigerator.  As Alicia watched, she carried the baby bottle back to her son in bed.  “Here Chrissy,” she said softly.  “Put that in your mouth and drink it.”

Chris grabbed the cold baby bottle and under everyone’s watchful eyes, stuck the nipple in his mouth and started sucking, but he got almost nothing at all from the bottle.  “I can’t get hardly anything out of it,” he complained.

Olivia laughed.  “I guess you need more practice with that too.  Don’t worry, you’ll get plenty.”

Alicia chuckled.  “I can’t tell you how much I love seeing him like that.  Miranda was right.  She pictured him as a total baby, and I honestly think the role suits him.  Too bad Billy was the one to come up with his primary punishment.  If it was Miranda, I have no doubt that seeing him spend the rest of his life crawling around in a nursery somewhere would have been just as interesting.

“Not to mention easier,” Olivia added.

“Are we done here?” the sheriff asked.

“Yes Tom,” his wife told him.  “We can go home now.”

“Good!”  He looked to Tess.  “One of the deputies will be here to pick him up at ten tomorrow morning.”

“And one of the deputies will be by here later tonight,” Olivia added.  “There’s no need for you to even get out of bed.  As long as everything looks right, he’ll come, and leave…unless he wants some of Chrissy’s services, then it might take a while longer.  But either way, you don’t need to be there at all.”

“Sleep well Tess,” Alicia said.  “And relax.  You’re work for the night is done.”  With a laugh, she led the way out.

Tess didn’t bother following them to the door.  She sat in a daze on the side of Chrissy’s bed.  Sleep well.  Ha!  As if that was even possible anymore.

“Mom?”

Tess looked down at her son.  His face was still a mess from all the crying he had done.

“Do I have to drink it this way?” he asked.  “Can’t we just dump it out and then say I did?”

Tess was very tempted to do just that, but after all the things that had already happened, she was too afraid that somehow, someone might find out.  Instead, she slipped around him and laid down on top of his bed right next to him, pulling his head up onto her shoulder.  She took the baby bottle from him and held it to his lips.  “Drink,” she whispered.

Chrissy pushed the bottle away from him.  “Mom…please.”

“Shh,” Tess whispered as she pushed the nipple back to his lips.  “Drink,” she said softly.  “Try not sucking as hard.  Suck, but easy, and try to relax.”  She was glad to see him accept the nipple and start trying to drink again.  It took him a long time to finish the bottle, but she held it for him the entire time.  When he was done, she placed the empty bottle on the nightstand where the deputy could see it when he came in.  She kissed his cheek.  She wanted to say goodnight, Chris, but she didn’t.  She also didn’t want to say goodnight, Chrissy.  She had to settle for just the one word, “Goodnight.”

Several hours later, a small sound caught Tess’s attention.  She got up from her bed and went out to the living room.  She saw one of the older town deputies heading for Chris’s room.  She watched from her bedroom doorway as the deputy went in, then came out again a few minutes later.  The deputy nodded his head but said nothing else.  He went out into the night.

Tess went back to bed, but once again sleep was difficult to find.
