The Legend of Bastien - Chapter 4 – Ready or Not

Chapter 4 – Ready or Not

Tess checked her clock and finally got out of bed.  Since she hadn’t slept, she had done a lot of thinking last night, and she had come to a conclusion.  As bad as it sounded, the only way she knew of that she could help her son, was to be strong for him.  To be tough.  And unfortunately, perhaps cruel.  As strong as she was sure her son was, she knew he was going to need her strength and guidance.  The problem though was that just then she didn’t feel very strong at all.  And as to guiding him, she wasn’t sure how.  But there were a few things she had decided.  Things he wasn’t going to like.  Things she didn’t like either.  But they were both stuck with the situation and neither of them had a choice.

It was an hour earlier than she usually got him up for school.  Not only had Billy told him last night before they left the store to make sure he got to school early, but she knew they were going to need all that time.  She went into his room to wake him up, but when she turned the light on, she could see his eyes were already open.  “Good morning,” she said as lovingly as she could.  She sat down on the edge of his bed and kissed his forehead.  She could see how red his eyes were.  And was that fear in his eyes, or madness?  Maybe both.  Had he cried as much last night as she had?  She was sure he had.  More than likely, like her, he hadn’t slept a wink either.

She swallowed.  It was time to be tough now.  For him.  “Get up,” she told him.  “There’s lots to do before you can go to school.”

“Like what?”

“Like getting ready.”

“Who cares?”

“Me!  And you!  Like it or not, you have to care!”

“And what if I don’t?”

“Then care anyway!”  Her voice softened.  “For me.”

He turned his head away.  She got up and pulled the covers off him.  “Up!” she told him in no uncertain terms.  She was happy to see him move.  As he sat up on the side of the bed, he looked strange wearing her pajamas.  Having his hair cut in bangs across his forehead made him look even stranger.  Her voice was soft when she asked.  “Are you wet?”

“No, but I’ve got to pee something fierce,” he told her.  “I’ve been fighting it for…ever!”

She sat next to him.  “Don’t fight it Chris.  You and I both know it’s going to be inevitable.”

“That doesn’t mean I want to do it.”

“Of course not.  I’m just saying, there’s no need to fight it like that.  It’s not going to do you any good.”

He jumped up from the bed and ran to the bathroom.  She ran after him, opening the door before he could close it all the way.  “Chris, don’t use the toilet,” she yelled quickly.  “We need to see…”  She stopped right there.  Chris was standing, staring at the toilet, but by the way his legs were bent, she had no doubt that he was wetting himself right then and there.  “As I was saying,” she said much softer.  “We need to find out if those diapers will hold it all when you wet them.”  She saw him look back at her.  His face was red, and he was crying again.

He let out a sob.  “I hate this!” he yelled angrily.

She rushed to him and pulled him into a tight embrace.  She wasn’t even sure if he was done peeing yet, but she held him tightly.  “I know,” she said.  “I know.  We’re just going to have to figure things out and do the best we can.”  She let him cry on her shoulder for a moment, then she pulled away.  “Come on, let’s get breakfast.”

She fixed eggs and toast for them both while he sat in a wet diaper and her flannel pajamas at the table.  She couldn’t help but notice how often he stared at the sparkly pink polish on his fingernails as he moved his hands and fingers all around.  She was tempted to say something about it, but she didn’t.  She noticed him still looking at his fingernails as they ate.  She was guessing that the color being on them was something so new to him that it was going to take a while for him to get used to.

After breakfast, she dragged him out into the middle of the living room.  Now it was time to be cruel, but she knew without a doubt that this was something that was going to be important, even though he wouldn’t see it that way.  “Chris, I need you to do something now that I know you won’t like, but please do it anyway.”

“What?”

“Mess in your diaper.”

“What?”

“Chris, I want you to do everything you can to mess in your diaper, right now.  As much as possible.”

“Why?  Why can’t I just use the bathroom like always.  There’s nobody here right now.  Nobody will ever know!”

“Yes,” she replied.  “I thought about that.  But I want you to do it for a different reason.”

“What?”

“Chris,” she said.  “A little while ago, you wet that diaper for the first time.  You’re going to need to get used to doing that.”

“I can’t see any reason at all why I need to get used to it.”

“Because you’re going to be doing it…a lot!”

He shook his head.  “Don’t remind me.”

“And that’s why you need to mess that diaper now too, so you know how it’s going to feel.”

“I don’t want to.  Nobody’s here.  I can use the bathroom.”

“No!  Chris, trust me, please!”  She took a breath.  “Please, just mess yourself as much as you can right now.  Get everything out of you that you possibly can so hopefully you won’t be faced with the problem later today.  Okay?”

“That much I can see,” he replied.  “I just don’t see why I have to do it standing here in the living room instead of using the toilet.”

“Because in the event that you do have to do it…out there somewhere, you need to know what to expect.  At least…to some of it.  Once it actually happens though, I don’t know yet what you’re going to do.”

“Then why bother now?”

“Chris!  Just do it, okay?  End of story.  I’m trying to help you, even though you can’t see that.”

He looked at his mother, not understanding, and not wanting to do it.  “I hate this,” he said.

“I know.  I hate it too.”

“Not like I do.”

“I’m sure I don’t.  But Chris, I’m trying to understand what you’re going through, and believe it or not, I’m trying to help you.  Now we’ve got a lot to do this morning, so please, just do it.  Try!”

“Ugh!” he grunted as he turned away.

“Chris…”  But she could now see that he was concentrating.  She backed away a bit to leave him to it.  She saw him struggling with something.  Pushing.  She saw the stress in his face.  She saw the tears in his eyes.  And finally, she saw his hand going to his backside to touch it lightly.  “Finished?” she asked.

He nodded.

“Was it hard?”

He nodded again.

“Good,” she said.  She went to him and gave him another hug.  “Okay.   Let’s get you cleaned up now and into the shower.  She led him into the bathroom where he very gingerly removed the flannel pajamas she had given him.  The diaper he was wearing was soaked.  As far as she could see, it handled that one wetting just fine, but she didn’t know if it could handle much more.  There was also an obvious bulge in the back of the diaper.  There was no doubting what that was.  She helped him remove the smelly messy diaper and pushed him into the tub to take a shower while she took his dirty diaper and dropped it into a plastic trash bag and then braved the freezing cold to take it outside to the trashcan.  She decided to put a diaper pail on her list of needs for her son.

After his shower, she took him to his room and stretched another of those toddler diapers onto him again, using duct tape to make sure it would stay fastened, then she helped him into the bra he had worn from the store last night.  She had him put the tissues in it himself to fill it out.  She gave him the short skirt to put on and showed him where the tag was in it so he would know that he had it on straight.  It took no encouragement at all for him to grab the warm sweater and put it on.  They had bought a pair of girl’s flats for him last night, but he had worn the warm boots home.  She let him put the boots on again now, then she led him into the bathroom where she had him comb his hair, making sure the part down the middle was straight.  When he was done, she took her scissors and evened up the edges of his hair to make it look better.  Chris wasn’t happy about that, but she didn’t care.

Dressed that much, she sat him down on his bed and handed him the small mirror they had bought for his purse last night and one of the pink lipstick tubes.  “Start in the middle,” she told him.  Under her watchful eye, she had him do his own lipstick three times, taking a makeup remover after each time to get it off so he could practice it again.  When she was satisfied, she herself did his eye makeup.  He could barely get his lipstick on.  He wasn’t ready for the difficult stuff yet.

By the time she was done, it was nearly time for him to leave for school.  She helped him into his new coat.  She made sure he had a pencil and pen in his purse, along with his lipstick and some makeup removing pads.  Finally, she stuck his flat soled shoes into his purse as well.

She looked him over briefly, then hugged him.  “I hate this too,” she whispered.  “Chris, please, please…don’t antagonize them today.  Any of them.  I need you to live baby.  I need you alive.  If you’re dead, I may as well be dead too.”  She paused to look into his face.  “Chris,” she said, “I have no doubt at all that they’re going to be extra cruel to you today.  Probably worse than yesterday.”

“Huh!” he grunted.  “You think?  They’ll definitely be worse than yesterday…as if that’s possible.”

“Yeah,” she agreed.  “Just…please try not to antagonize them.  As bad as it is.  As bad as they make it, please do whatever it is that they ask, no matter what.  Chris, please!  Please try for me honey, but mostly, try for yourself!  Try…and live.  No matter what, that’s the most important thing.  You’ve got to live!”  She stared at his face with all the seriousness that she felt, until she saw him agree and give a small nod.

Chris said nothing.  He hugged his mother again and turned to face the door.  It was time to face the world.  And he knew without a doubt, he’d be facing more cocks to suck today too.  Somehow, they had made him the official town cocksucker, and he knew they were going to do everything possible to make him suffer with it.

His mother opened the door for him, and the cold blast of air hit him, especially his upper legs.  He went outside and automatically glanced at the thermometer hung just to the side of the door.  Minus five degrees.  Not just cold, but miserably cold.  And he had to walk all the way to school dressed as he was?  He went down the two wooden steps to the frozen ground and then the short walk out to the snow and ice covered road.  His hands were already freezing.  His face and ears were freezing.  He pulled his purse up onto his shoulder and stuffed his hands down into the pockets of his coat.  He turned back towards his house and saw his mother standing there watching him.  He turned away and began the long cold walk to the school building, knowing he was heading toward a fate he couldn’t run away from.

It wasn’t just the cold against his legs that bothered him.  It wasn’t just the tight diaper he was wearing either.  The short skirt felt obnoxiously strange.  He felt weird wearing it.  Less sure of himself.  More vulnerable…afraid.  And worse, while his coat covered the top of his skirt, it didn’t cover the bottom of it, and he could feel how the wind kept blowing it around.  Despite feeling more vulnerable and afraid, by the time he reached the village green, he was praying that the cold would kill him before he could get there.

Tess watched Chris as he walked away from the house.  She noticed how cold he was.  She saw him move his purse up to his shoulder and put his hands into the pockets of his coat.  He needed more clothes.  He needed warmer things.  But just then, he didn’t have any.  Shivering, she closed the door, praying that somehow her son would get through the day…and at least survive.  That was the number one thing he needed to do.  No matter what, he had to survive.  She couldn’t lose him like she had lost her husband.

The Legend of Bastien - Chapter 3 – Dry Goods

The Legend of Bastien

By Karen Singer

Chapter 3 – Dry Goods

The dry goods store was one of the largest buildings in the community.  The lights were on and the door was unlocked when Chris and his mother got there.  Tess very much wished the place was closed.  She wished none of this was happening at all, but unbelievably, it was.  Taped to the outside of the door was another copy of the judge’s decree.  She wanted to rip it down and tear it up, but she knew it would do no good at all.  She opened the door and pushed Chris in ahead of her.  She didn’t bother trying to tell him to be brave, she didn’t bother trying to tell him to stifle his tears, she had tears in her own eyes as well.

Just before leaving their house, she had sent him into the bathroom to use it…possibly for the last time.  Did Chris realize that yet?  She didn’t want to bring that up with him.  They got only a few feet inside the door when she saw Betty Tucker heading quickly for them.  Betty held out her arms and enveloped Tess in an affectionate hug.

“I’m so sorry,” Betty whispered.

The two women let go of each other and Betty looked at Chris.  “I’m sorry, Chris,” she said softly.  “The sheriff and one of his deputies are still here.  Billy and Miranda are here too.  I just wanted to warn you.”

Chris said nothing.  He couldn’t say anything.  Betty led them toward the back where her husband was keeping the others company.

“Finally!” Billy said impatiently.  “Took you long enough to get here.”

Trying to keep things as congenial as possible, Betty asked, “Now where should we start?”

“Get his damn clothes off!” Billy said.  “He shouldn’t have even worn them from his house.”

“Billy!” Miranda said quickly.  “It’s only ten degrees outside!”

“Tough!  He could have worn his mother’s stuff.”

“Maybe he’s got a point,” Betty said quickly.  “From what that decree said, I guess we better try and find something to diaper him with first.  I already pulled a couple of packages of the largest size toddler diapers we have.  If they won’t fit him, I have no idea what we’ll use until we can get something bigger.”

“Chris!” the sheriff spoke sternly.  “You heard them.  Strip!”

Chris looked pleadingly to his mother.  She had tears in her eyes still and a long red mark on the side of her throat from where the sheriff’s knife had cut her, but after a moment, she nodded at him.  “Better do it,” she told him.  “We’ve got no choice.”

Slowly, Chris started removing his clothes while Betty opened the package of toddler disposable diapers.

“I’d suggest we go with cloth diapers,” Betty said, “but if we do that, then we’ve got the problem of no plastic pants to put over them.  It will do no good at all.”

“Thanks,” Tess managed to reply, but her reply came out more like a whisper.  She watched as her son slowly shed all his clothes.  As he did, the deputy grabbed everything he had been wearing.  Finally, he was stark naked.

“Tess,” Betty said to get her attention, then handed her one of the toddler diapers.

Tess took the diaper and unfolded it.  It was a little bigger than most diapers that babies wore, but would it work for her son?  “Lay down honey,” she told Chris.  “On the floor.”

Not taking his eyes off the diaper his mother was holding, Chris laid flat on the cold tile floor.  Tess knelt down over him with the diaper, then looked up at Betty.  “Got any baby powder?”

“Oh!  Good idea!” Betty exclaimed.  She ran off quickly to find some.  Two minutes later, she opened the new container and handed it to Tess.  Tess sprinkled Chris liberally with the powder and rubbed some under his bottom too.  “Lift up honey,” she told Chris.

Chris took a deep breath, then lifted his backside to let his mother put the diaper up under him.  With his neck craned up so he could see, he watched as she brought it up between his legs.  She had to pull hard on it a few ways, but she managed to get it stretched just far enough for the tapes to fasten around his hips.

Tess shook her head.  “I’m not sure how well that’s going to work.  If he moves the wrong way, the tapes will probably rip off.”

“Duct tape!” Fred Tucker suggested.

Tess looked up at him, then nodded.  Fred left them and went further into the store.  It was a few minutes before he came back.  He ripped off a length of grey duct tape and handed it to Tess.  She put it over one side of Chris’s diaper, fastening it securely.  Fred handed her another strip and she used that to secure the other side.  She pulled on the waist, testing it.  “I guess that will hold,” she told him.  They’re too small, but with the tape, he can probably get by.”

“Come see me in the morning,” Betty said.  “We’ll order whatever you need.”

“You can stand up now Chris,” Tess told her son.

Chris was already running his hand over the tightly stretched baby diaper.  He simply didn’t know what to think about it.  He didn’t know what to think about any of it.

“Tess!” the sheriff said to get her attention.  “We’ll be going into your house now to grab anything we think Chris here doesn’t need anymore.  It will all be distributed to anyone in town we feel can use it.  Your job now is to get Chris here dressed so he can go to school tomorrow meeting the letter of the law.”

Tess could only nod.

As soon as the sheriff and deputy were gone, Billy said, “That law says short skirts!”

“God you’re a moron,” Miranda muttered.

“We’ll do the best we can Billy,” Betty told him, “but it’s winter.”

Miranda picked up a bag she had brought with her.  “Here,” she said as she opened the bag.  “I brought this for the cause,” she said as she pulled a short red skirt from the bag.  “I got it last summer hoping for a chance to wear it and never did.  It should be perfect for…the sissy there.”

Chris inwardly winced at the term.  Miranda threw the skirt at him, and he looked it over.  There was no zipper or anything on it.  It had an elastic waist.  As he turned the thing around, he couldn’t tell the front from the back.  Figuring it didn’t matter, he put his legs through the top and pulled it up onto his waist.

Tess went over to him and turned it partially around.  “There,” she told him.  “It was crooked.”

Chris looked down.  A skirt!  A short red skirt.  As far as he could see, it covered his diaper, but not by much.  He realized something.  “This is going to be cold to wear outside.”

“We’ll find you a warm top,” his mother replied.  “Some sweaters too.”

“He’s going to need a bra first,” Miranda told them.

“A bra?” Tess said.  “But…”

“It said he has to dress like a girl.  Besides, how will anything look right on him without one.”

“She’s right,” Betty agreed.  “Come along Chris,” Betty said as she headed toward the women’s section of the store.  “Let’s get you a bra.”

Fifteen minutes later, Chris was standing in the women’s section with a bra fastened around his chest and tissues stuffed into it to fill it out.  Betty had said something about ordering breast forms tomorrow.  At least over the bra he was now wearing a sweater, and it seemed to be nice and warm.  Soft too.  But his legs were still bare and freezing…not to mention his feet.

“High heels next!” Billy ordered.  “Like they wear in those TV shows.”

Miranda shook her head.  Her brother really was an idiot.  “Billy, you do know it’s winter, don’t you?  There’s a foot of snow outside.  And besides that, not only does nobody in Bastien wear high heels, I’m pretty sure the store doesn’t even carry them.  We’ve got nothing but dirt outside.  No sidewalks or paved streets.  It’s all mud!”

“I don’t care,” Billy replied.  “That’s his problem.  I want him to be an object lesson.”

“He’ll certainly be that!” Miranda replied disgustedly.

To Chris’s relief, the store didn’t have any women’s heels.  But they did find him a pair of women’s flats and also a pair of women’s boots that were lined in fur.  Since they were warm, he left the boots on.  They came up to just below his knees.  He was very happy about that, but it still left the rest of his legs freezing cold.  His mother, Betty, Miranda, and of course Billy, all kept talking about ordering things tomorrow.  If he could help it, he didn’t want to be anywhere around for that.

“What’s next?” Betty asked.

“Makeup!” Billy said.  “And lots of lipstick.”

“Maybe we better do his hair first,” Miranda suggested.

Billy looked at her angrily.  “You’ve always got an answer for everything,” he told her.

“Billy, you can’t do the makeup right without having a hairstyle to go with it.”  It was all bullshit, but she was betting that Billy didn’t have a clue about that.  She was right.

“I believe the decree stated that he had to wear his hair with bangs across the front,” Betty said.

She led them all to another part of the store.  From one of the shelves, she pulled a bottle of styling gel.  She handed it to Tess who poured it onto Chris’s hair.  Betty handed Tess a comb and Tess combed the gel thorough Chris’s hair.  Finally, she combed the front part down all across Chris’s forehead.  Betty handed her a pair of scissors and she carefully cut Chris’s bangs just above his eyebrows.  With Billy laughing in delight, she continued to work on Chris’s hair, parting it down the center and combing the rest down to the sides where it just covered his ears.

“Better than I thought,” Miranda approved.  “Right now, with that gel in his hair, it makes it look longer.”

“Now the lipstick?” Billy asked.

“No idiot!” Miranda told him.  “Eye makeup.”

They sat Chris down in a chair while Tess, Miranda, and Betty all collaborated over his eyes, with Tess doing the actual work.  It was way too much eye makeup, especially for a farming community, but Tess realized that the Bastiens wanted it to be that way.

Once Chris’s eyes were a popping sight that couldn’t be missed, Miranda handed Tess three tubes of bright sparkly pink lipstick.  “He’s going to need a lot of it,” Miranda told her.  And I found some nail polish that matches it.  I suggest you do his nails before he goes to school tomorrow.”

“Yeah!” Billy agreed excitedly, not able to take his eyes off of Chris now that the dramatic eye makeup was on him.  “And I want his nails to be long like the girls on TV.”

“Billy!” Miranda said angrily.  “It takes time to grow nails like that.”

“How about that stuff they say they put on them to make them longer.”

Betty shook her head.  “I’m sorry, we don’t carry any of that.  Nobody’s ever asked for it.”

“If you want his nails long like that,” Miranda said, “then the only way is to wait for them to grow.”

Billy was perturbed about that, but he turned to Chris.  Hear that flake?  Grow your nails long and pretty.  And keep them painted!  Your feet too.”

“Let’s get him a coat now,” Betty suggested to get the focus away from Billy.  “I think what we’ve done tonight will have to do for now.  Tomorrow we can take more time with it and order whatever we need.”

Fifteen minutes later, Chris walked out the door into the freezing cold winter air of Bastien, Wisconsin.  He was wearing a bra, a sweater, a short red skirt, nice fur lined boots, a diaper, and a women’s warm coat.  In his hands he was carrying not only some of the packages, but a purse to hold things in as well.  His hair had been cut with bangs across the front and was parted down the middle.  His lips were coated heavily with sparkly bright pink lipstick, and he had so much eye makeup on that he could literally feel it.  It all felt horribly strange to him.  He felt like a fool.  He had no doubt he looked like one.  The question was, how was he going to get through tomorrow…and the next day…and the next?

They went into their tiny pale-yellow house.  The fire had almost gone out in the stove.  Chris hurried to put more wood into it to warm things up.  Tess started looking around the house.  The sheriff had obviously been there.  Her room appeared to be mostly untouched.  The clothes hamper had been gone through as had the small washer and dryer.  It was Chris’s room though that looked the worst.  She noticed the boy’s comforter she kept on his bed was gone.  His closet was completely empty.  The drawers in his dresser were empty as well.  Then she noticed other things missing.  All his boy’s toys and things were gone.  There was nothing at all left in the house to even suggest a boy had been living there.  As far as she could see, the sheriff was taking things a little too far.  The entire situation was being taken too far.

She turned and found Chis standing behind her, looking into his room.  She turned him around and pushed him back toward the living room.  “Come on honey.  Maybe you should sleep in the living room tonight.”

“No,” Chris said as he turned and went back into his room.  He looked around.  Everything was gone.  All his clothes, all his belongings.  Gone!  There was no comforter on his bed, but he laid down on it, still in his new winter coat.  “What am I going to do, Mom?” he said.

She sat on the bed next to him.  “I don’t know,” she replied.  “I really don’t know.  But Chris, the only thing I do know, is that as bad as all this is, please…please, please, please…know that I can’t lose you like your father.  Chris, I hate this almost as much as you, but please, for my sake, let’s find a way to get through this.”

“What else can I do?”

She shook her head.  “Nothing.  Nothing at all that I can see.  Judge Bastien even went and made it a town law.  That alone is…absurd.  But the Bastiens have us all under their thumb.  Like it or not, we dance to their tune.  Whatever they say, goes.  And right now Chris, I’m afraid all their attention is on you.”

“How do we get it off me?”

“I don’t know.  I have no idea.  And I’m afraid, looking like you do, and with the horrible things they’re requiring you to do, you may be the biggest sensation this town has ever seen.”

“Thanks,” Chris replied.  “Now I feel even sicker.”

Tess tried to smile.  “Come on,” she said.  “I’ll fix you a cup of hot chocolate.”

“I don’t want it.”

“Come!” she ordered.  “You’ll drink some, like it or not.”

Not wanting to, Chris got up from the bed.  In the living room, Tess took his new coat from him.  She looked her son over.  He looked strange.  If he were a girl, he wouldn’t look so bad, but he wasn’t a girl.  And the way he looked wasn’t even close to the worst of his punishment.  She made them both a cup of hot chocolate, knowing that it was Chris’s favorite drink.  But while he was drinking it, she took the time to put the nail polish on his toes.  When she was finished there, she put two coats on his fingernails.  “Very pretty,” she said to him, trying to be nice about it.

Chris said nothing about it.  As his wet nails were drying, he simply stared at them.

When his nails were finally dry, Tess cleaned all the makeup off his face, including his lipstick.  She had to use some of the makeup removing wipes Betty had suggested they buy.  She now could see why.  Her son was going to need them.  Betty had promised to order more tomorrow since she only had one package of them in the store.

She gave him a pair of her flannel pajamas to wear and put her own comforter on the bed for him.  She tucked him into his bed and sat on the side of it.  She took a deep breath, then said, “Chris, if you’re wet tomorrow morning, don’t be ashamed.  You’re going to have to use those diapers sometime.  You and I both know it’s going to happen…a lot!  I could let you try using the bathroom now, but I’m afraid you’re going to have to start getting used to using those diapers.  And like it or not, the sooner, the better.”

Chris said nothing.

She kissed his forehead.  “Goodnight.”  With one last lingering look at him, she left him and went to her own bedroom.  She tried to sleep, but between crying and trying to figure out how to help her son, sleep didn’t come easy.

What she didn’t know then was that sleep would never come easy for her again…no matter how tired she was.

--- §§§§§§§§§§ ---

Alicia sat with her daughter at the kitchen table.  Tom and Billy were in the living room watching TV.  “You seem to be more interested in this thing of Billy’s than I thought you would be,” Alicia said.

“I am,” Miranda agreed.  “Right now, I could kill Chris Moore!”

“Why didn’t you just suggest that when you were all discussing it earlier, instead of coming up with everything you did?  And don’t think I didn’t notice that much of that stuff came from you, not Billy.”

“Mom…you know why.”

“No.  Why?”

“Because as soon as I get married, I won’t be a Bastien anymore.  I won’t be the town’s little princess.  I’ll be a nobody.  Nothing.  My only chance to have half what I have now is to marry someone important, and Chris was the smartest kid in the school.  The whole school.  And we’re both only freshmen.”

“I get your point,” Alicia replied.  “So you liked Chris?”

“More than most.  But now…I could just kill him!”

“Dear, you and I both know that like it or not, Chris is as good as dead right now.”

“Yeah.  But that doesn’t mean I can’t get back at him for doing something so stupid.”

“So you liked him.”

“What if I did?  Besides, as far as I could see he was my best bet for a future.”

“If he was that smart, then he probably was.  But not anymore.”

“No.  And because of it, I could just kill him!  And the worst part is, that everything he said about Billy was true.”

“Miranda!  How dare you say that!”

“Come on Mom, you know as well as me that Billy is an idiot.  He hasn’t passed a single course since the eighth grade.  At least!  He’s the school bully and that’s it.”

“Your brother gets straight A’s on every report card we get.

“Mooom…  You know as well as I that it’s only because he’s a Bastien.  Trust me, Billy does nothing in school except show off and cause trouble.  He even pushes the teachers around.  Everyone’s afraid of him.”

Alicia looked at her daughter, knowing she was right.  “That may very well be, but it still doesn’t excuse Chris Moore for doing what he did.  Billy can be the bigshot in the school because everyone knows who he is.  They should be afraid of him.  We want them to be afraid of him and show him that respect.  That’s part of what makes it so much worse for what Chris Moore did.  Everyone else knows to show Billy that respect, but Chris didn’t have the common sense to keep his mouth shut and show Billy that respect like he should have.  And if he didn’t know it now, how much worse might Chris be in the future?  No.  He had to be punished!”

“I know,” Miranda said disappointedly.  “And because of it, I could just kill him!”

Chapter 2 – The Letter of the Law – Part 2 of 2

It was well after dinner when the loud knock came at the door.  With no TV in the house, Chris and his mother were both reading in front of the cast iron stove attached to the fireplace, which provided the only heat for the tiny house.  The knock at their door sent fear through both of them.  Tess got up to answer it.  She opened the door and saw both Sheriff Bastien and his son Billy standing outside.  Her fear went on overload.  “Sheriff!”

Tom pushed his way inside and Billy followed.  Tom closed the door behind them.  There was no doubting the fear on Tess’s face.  He looked over to where Chris was sitting.  He looked scared too.  He figured they both should be scared.  “Tess, Chris,” he said to both of them.  “Chris broke one of our biggest laws today, and that can’t go unpunished.”

“No!  Please!” Tess begged.

“I’m sorry,” Tom replied, “but I’ve got no choice.  By rights, I ought to kill him for insulting Billy, but Billy here has decided that Chris should live.  My father, Judge Bastien, has agreed that since Billy was the one insulted, then Billy ought to decide Chris’s punishment.”

“His…punishment?” Tess asked haltingly.

Tom pulled out the legal document that his mother had created.  “Chris!” he said as he looked over at the boy.  “This decree is the punishment that has been decided for you.  And just so you know, as strange as it is, the judge signed it and made it official.  So listen carefully, because I know you’re not going to like it…even though quite frankly, I don’t give a damn.  If it was me, you’d already be dead.”  He looked down at the paper and started reading.

“By Order of Judge Vincent Bastien.

“For the crime of insulting a Bastien and trying to incite others against the Bastien family, Christopher Moore is hereby sentenced to being the town cocksucker for the rest of his life.  As such, he will make himself available anytime, anywhere, for the purpose of sucking off anyone who so wishes.  He will also see to the needs of any women who would like to take advantage of his situation as well.

“Furthermore:  Since it was noted that Christopher Moore wet his pants every time he has been asked to suck someone off already, Christopher Moore shall be kept in diapers at all times, and he shall use them for all intended purposes.  No toilets allowed for him ever!

“Furthermore:  In order to make the services of Christopher Moore more appealing to the men in the town, Christopher shall be only allowed to wear girl’s clothes and he shall be further confined to wearing only very short skirts so that his diapers can easily be seen and checked to make sure he is using them and not trying to cheat his punishment.  To aid in his appearance, Christopher’s hair will be worn in a feminine style with bangs straight across his forehead.  He will also be required to wear makeup, particularly eye makeup and lipstick.  Every time he sucks someone off, Christopher will put fresh lipstick on before, and he will put more on right afterwards so he will always be appealing and ready for his next customer.

“For his crimes against the Bastien family, all this is so ordered by Vincent Bastien, Judge and highest authority of Bastien, Wisconsin.”

“I can’t do that!” Chris finally managed to get out.

Tess was staring in disbelief.  “That’s…absurd!” she finally stated.  “Not only that it’s…disgusting!  Immoral!”

“Absolutely,” Tom agreed.  “But whether anyone likes it or not, this decree is now the law of the town.  Copies of this document are being circulated everywhere right now.”

“Mom?” Chris said as he came to his feet.  “I can’t…”

“You’ve got no choice!” Tom told him sternly.  “Not anymore.  You broke the law, and now you’ve got to live with the consequences.  You’re lucky!  If it was up to me, you’d be dead already.  Here,” he said as he pushed the document into Tess’s hands.  “Read it for yourself.  That’s your copy.”

Tess glanced over it quickly.  It was on the judge’s letterhead, and she saw that Judge Bastien had signed it at the bottom.

“It’s law now!” Tom stated again.  “Congratulations Tess.  Like it or not, your son is now officially the town cocksucker.  He’s to be made an object lesson for everyone to see – from now on.”

The tears were flowing heavily from Tess’s eyes as she sank down into one of her chairs.

Chris went over to her, scared out of his wits.  “Mom?  What am I going to do?”

Tess let out a big sob.  “I don’t know,” she replied.  She grabbed him and pulled him to her to hold him tightly.

“I’ll tell you what you’re going to do,” Billy said gleefully.  He went over and grabbed Chris, ripping him out of his mother’s arms.  “Down on your knees!” he ordered.  “It’s time you got to work!”

“No!” Chris shouted as he tried to back away.  “No!”

Billy’s fist lashed out and he punched Chris in the stomach again, sending him to his knees.

“No!” Tess shouted as she jumped up from her chair.

The sheriff caught her and grabbed her before she could get very far.

“No…” Chris begged.

Billy pulled out his big hunting knife again.  He lowered his pants to his knees and grabbed Chris’s hair.  “Get busy,” he ordered.  “As the town cocksucker, you’ve got a job to do, and so far, you’ve been pretty damn bad at it.  You’re going to need all the practice you can get.”

“No!” Tess shouted as she tried to pull away from the sheriff’s grasp.  But the sheriff pushed her down to her knees and he pulled his knife too, an identical hunting knife to the one that Billy carried.

Tom put the knife to Tess’s throat.  “Chris, you either get busy there, or I’ll slit your mother’s throat right in front of you.”

Billy took his own knife and held it to the front of Chris’s neck.  “And then I’ll slit your throat too,” he menaced.  “Now get busy!”

Chris looked at his mother.  The sheriff was pressing the knife against her neck.  A moment later, he saw a thin line of blood.  Letting out a sob, he realized he had no choice at all.  Before his mother could be hurt even worse, he got busy on Billy’s cock.  He knew without a doubt that it would be better if he died, but he couldn’t let anything happen to his mother.

The sheriff watched Chris and Billy for a few minutes, then he grabbed Tess’s hair and pulled.  “What’s wrong with you?” he said evilly into her ear.  “I would think you’d be overjoyed to see your son being allowed to live.  I would think you’d be so happy about it that you’d be doing everything you can to encourage him and make him do better.  Because if you don’t, I’ll kill him here and now anyway.  Get it?” he said as he pulled harder on her hair and pressed the knife harder against her throat, drawing even more blood.

Tess screamed.  What was happening right in front of her was making her sick, but she would do anything in the world to see her son live.  “Chris,” she said, as another sob left her throat.  “You can do it.  You have to do it Chris.  Put everything you have into it.”

“Give him some advice!” Tom told her.

“Don’t just use your lips,” Tess said to Chris.  “Use your tongue.  Do it harder and faster.  Do it Chris.  Please, just do it.  Live baby.  I need you to live!”

Chris tried to work harder at the task and Billy noticed the difference right away.  “Oh yeah,” Billy said.  “That’s much better.”

It still took a while, but with Tess trying hard to encourage her son, Billy finally got off.

“My turn now!” the sheriff said as he turned Tess loose and quickly grabbed Chris by the hair.  He looked down into Chris’s crying messy face.  “Got any lipstick?” he said to Tess.  “He’s supposed to be wearing it all the time now, especially just before he gets another cock to suck.”

“I…I…” Tess started.

“Go get it.  Fast!” the sheriff yelled at her.  Tess got to her feet and stumbled her way to her room.  She rarely ever wore lipstick.  Nobody in Bastien ever did.  This was a farming community.  There was rarely ever any need.  She noticed Billy had followed her into her room.  She found her purse and dug down to the bottom of it where her only tube of lipstick was.  An old tube.  Under Billy’s watchful eyes, she hurried back out to the sheriff with it.  She tried to hand it to him.

“Don’t give it to me,” the sheriff told her.  “Give it to him.  Tell him what to do with it.”

“Here honey,” Tess said as she held the lipstick out for her son.  “Put this on your lips.”

Chris started crying harder, but he reached up and grabbed the tube of lipstick.  He opened it and turned it so that a little of it stuck out from the top.  He rubbed it messily across his lips.  It tasted weird and felt even stranger on his lips, but he did his best to coat his lips with it.

“More!  Heavier!” the sheriff ordered.  “So there’s no question you’re wearing it.”

Chris spread it over his lips again, heavier.  Finally, he looked up.  “Okay?” he asked as he let out another sob.

“Much better.”  The sheriff dropped his pants.  “Now show me what you can do.  And for your life and your mother’s life, you better do a damn good job of it.”

Wanting so much to die, Chris put his mouth to work on the sheriff’s cock.

“Billy,” the sheriff said after a few minutes, “I think you may have come up with a really good idea here.  He needs work for sure.  Lots of practice, but I think in time he’ll make a first-rate cocksucker for this town.  Something I guess we never knew we needed.”

It was a while before the sheriff got his load off too.  When he did, he pulled his pants up and moved away from Tess and Chris.  “Welcome to your new life.  But there’s other things in that decree that need to be taken care of.  I suggest you two head on over to the store right now to get whatever you need.  I’ll tell Fred and Betty Tucker to extend your line of credit there to whatever you need.”  He turned to his son.  “Let’s go Billy.  I’m sure one of the deputies has alerted the Tuckers by now, but we better head over there anyway.  Besides, unless I miss my guess, I’d bet your sister is already there too.”

As soon as the sheriff and Billy had gone, Tess rushed over to hold Chris.  He was still kneeling on the floor, still sobbing his heart out.  She held him tight, as tight as she could.  It was a while before she finally said to him, “Come on Chris.  We better go before the sheriff gets mad that we haven’t shown up at the store yet.  Heaven only knows how much worse he’ll make things then.”

“No Mom, please,” Chris cried.

“We have to Chris,” Tess told him.  “We’ve got no choice.  They’ve decided to make a laughingstock out of you for everyone to see, and they’re certainly doing a damn good job of it so far.”  When he didn’t move, she said, “It’s either this Chris, or they’ll kill you, just like they killed your father.  And you know perfectly well that as soon as they kill you, they’ll put a bullet in my brain too.

Chris sobbed again.  He looked up at his mother.  He couldn’t let anything happen to her, even though the best thing in the world now would be for him to die.  But she was…his mother!

The Legend of Bastien - Chapter 2 – The Letter of the Law – Part 1 of 2

The Legend of Bastien

Chapter 2 – The Letter of the Law – Part 1 of 2

Sheriff Tom Bastien got home earlier than usual that night.  His wife Alicia and daughter Miranda were in the kitchen making dinner.  Billy was in the kitchen as well with only one of his usual friends, Pete.  When Tom walked in the door, he had no doubt what they had all been talking about, and it wasn’t dinner.  “Okay,” he said as he hung his hat up and turned to everyone in the kitchen.  “Now one more time.  What the hell happened?”

“I told you already,” Billy said.  “Chris Moore insulted me and outright said I wasn’t fit to rule the town after you.”

Tom nodded.  “I spoke to him after I talked to you, and he admitted it.  He also said he’s sorry, for which I don’t give a damn.  He broke the biggest law in this town.  End of story.  Now why the hell can’t I just go over and put a bullet in his trouble inciting brain?”

“Because I want to see him suffer first.  Worse than anything anyone has ever seen before.  I think we need to make an example of him.”

“More of an example than just killing him?”

“Yeah Dad.  Much more.”

“Okay, what did you have in mind?”

“Well, since all the teachers in the school seem to think he’s such hot shit,” Billy replied, “then I want to show them that he’s not.”

“How?” his father asked.

“Today, after I beat him up for it, I dragged Chris back to the boy’s room two more times, once at lunch, and then right after school again.  The first time I made him suck my cock till I got off.  Then after school, I made him do Pete here.”

“Yeah,” Pete said excitedly.  “It took him long enough, but it was great.  And the funniest thing was that Chris wet his pants again.  He did it every time Billy confronted him today.  Three times!  That’s got to be a record!”

“The dumb shit should be put back in diapers – permanently!” Miranda muttered angrily from the kitchen counter.

Tom looked over at her, then ignored her.

Pete laughed.  “Yeah, that would be funny.”

“So do it!” Miranda told them.

All the men looked over at her again, then turned away.  “I guess we could,” Billy admitted.  That would certainly take him down a peg or two, especially if we could find some way for everyone to know he was wearing them.”

“And using them,” Miranda added.  “He’d have to be using them.”

“Yeah,” Billy agreed.  “Of course.  And it would be kind of funny.”

“But how could you do that?” Pete asked.  “Other than make him wear just diapers instead of his pants.”

“Make him wear short skirts,” Miranda suggested.

Pete laughed.  “Yeah, can you just see that?  The little shit having to walk around in a short skirt all the time where it would be so easy to see that he’s wearing a diaper underneath?  He’d probably spend all his time trying to make sure his skirt is pulled down far enough so his diapers don’t show.”

Billy burst out laughing.  “Yeah.  I like it,” he said.  “That would be a hoot.”  But now his brain was racing forward.  “And we could do more than just that.  If he’s got to wear a short skirt all the time, why not make him dress entirely like a girl.  No boy’s clothes at all.”

“At least it would all go better with the skirt,” Miranda said, more to herself than the guys.

“And makeup!” Pete suggested.  “So he looks sexier too.”

“Uh…” Miranda said to get their attention.  “You guys do know that almost no one in this town ever wears makeup.”

“Hey,” Billy said.  “I’ve seen some of the girls at school wearing some.”

“Okay, a few,” Miranda conceded.

“Evy wears makeup!” Billy told her.

“Yeah, of course,” Miranda replied, knowing that Evelyn was close to being a legitimate girlfriend to her brother.  She certainly couldn’t fault Evy for that.  But it sounded like Billy might be taking more notice of Evy than she had thought.  Not that it really mattered.  When it came time for Billy to get married, the family would decide who was the best woman for him.

“We should have him fix his hair too,” Billy said, his brain still racing.

“How?” Miranda asked.  “His hair isn’t that long.”

“Not like yours or Evy’s but he can still do something with it.  Like…I don’t know…bangs all across the front or something.”

“Like a little girl?” Miranda asked incredulously.

“Yeah.  Perfect!” Billy said.

“If it’s like a little girl, it would certainly go with him wearing diapers all the time,” Pete noted.

Miranda said nothing to that.  As far as she was concerned, they were all idiots.

“Okay, let me get this straight,” Tom said.  “You want to make an object lesson out of Chris Moore by making him wear diapers and dressing like a girl all the time.”

“No Dad, you missed the main part.”

“What part was that?”

“The part where I want him sucking cocks all the time.  I think we should make him the town cocksucker, for the rest of his life.”

“Say what?” Tom said in disbelief.

“We make him the official town cocksucker.”

“The town cocksucker?  Billy, what are you thinking?”

“Think about it Dad.  He can service any man who wants him.  Think what he could do for all the guys who aren’t married.  And you know the married ones would probably love it too.”

“Maybe,” Tom conceded, trying to wrap his head around such a thought.  “A town cocksucker?  Billy, that’s crazy!”

“What if some of the women want to use him too?” Alicia, Tom’s wife asked.  “It’s not fair that the men should get all the fun and the women get left out…again!”

“The women in this town don’t count, and you know it,” Tom told her bluntly.  “But you’ve got a point.”

“I guess we could let him do men and women both,” Billy agreed.  “Anyone that wants it.  I think that might be even better.”

“Wait a minute!” Tom said quickly.  “Billy, there’s no such thing as a town cocksucker.  The very idea of it is…”

“But Dad,” Billy interjected.  “Don’t you think making him something like that would send a message to everyone about what could happen to them if they disrespect any of us?”

“Well, sure, but…”

“And if he had a permanent position like that, then everyone would keep being reminded about it.  Sure, we could just kill him, but how long would it be before everyone simply forgot about him.  This way, he’ll be around for a long time for everyone to see and be reminded of the consequences.”

Tom stopped to think about it.  As outlandish as his son’s idea was, in a way, it did make sense.  In fact, maybe too much sense.  But a town cocksucker?  There were no churches in Bastien.  There never had been.  The morals in the community had always been carefully controlled by himself and his father, and every Bastien judge and sheriff before them – for the last five generations, of which, Billy was going to be the sixth generation.  He took a big breath then nodded.  “Okay.  Let me see if I’ve got this all straight,” he said.  “You want to create a permanent position of town cocksucker and make Chris it.  Then you want him to wear diapers and…”  He stopped and turned to his daughter.  “Miranda honey.  This is getting complicated.  Go get me a pen and some paper, we better write all this down.”

Miranda hurried away from the kitchen and came back with some paper and a pen.

“I’ll write it,” Billy offered.  “He insulted me, and it’s my idea.”

Miranda handed him the paper and the pen.  Billy took it and started making a list.  “Number one,” he said.  “Chris becomes the town cocksucker to men and women both.  Anyone who wants it.  Number two, he wears diapers all the time.”

“And uses them,” Miranda added.

“Yeah, and he has to use them,” Billy agreed as he wrote that down too.  “Number three.  He has to dress completely like a girl all the time and…”

“Billy!” Miranda said.  “You’re hopeless!”

“What?”

“Look at the way you’re doing it.  It’s all wrong.”

“I’m making a list.  What’s wrong with that?”

“In order to do this, Grandpa is going to have to approve it, and for that it has to be done like a legal order.  A law!”

“So?”

Miranda sat down at the table and grabbed the paper and the pen.  She pulled up a fresh piece of paper and began writing, not bothering to show anyone else.  When she was finished, she threw the paper into the middle of the table and said, “There.  That’s how you do it!”

Billy grabbed the paper first and read it.  He nodded.  “Yeah, I think that should work…for starters.  He passed the paper over to Pete.

“This should be great!” Pete agreed.

Tom finally took the paper and read through it.  He nodded.  “Okay.  If this is what you want, I’ll take this up to Grandpa right now.”  He looked up at his wife.  “Better keep dinner warm for me Honey.  I think it’s going to be a long night.”

“Dad!” Billy said.  “If Grandpa approves it, I want to go with you when you deliver it to Chris.”

Tom nodded.  “I think that’s only fair.  If…Grandpa agrees, I’ll come back and pick you up.”

“And you can have dinner before you go too,” his wife told him.  “Another hour or so isn’t going to make any difference at all.”

“Tom!” Oliva Bastien said happily as she opened the door to their home and found her son standing outside.

“Hi Mom,” Tom replied as he went in through the door.  “Is Dad here?”

“Of course.  Where else would he be?  I take it you need to see him?”

“Yeah.  Something serious.”

“You know where he is.”

Tom headed for his father’s office where he found him inside watching TV.  There was a town courthouse, but like his father before him, Vincent Bastien had always preferred the office in his home for all his work and meetings.  “Dad,” Tom said to get his attention.

“Tom!” Vincent greeted his son, happy to see him.  “How goes things?”

“Not so good.  We’ve got a problem…and the weirdest solution you’ve ever heard of.”

Vincent turned the TV off and paid his full attention to his son.  “What happened?”

“There’s this kid in the high school.  Christopher Moore.”

“Gerald Moore’s son?” Vincent asked.

“Yeah.  Him.  It seems he was stupid enough to go and insult Billy today, and not only that, he flat out suggested that Billy wasn’t fit to rule this town.  And worse, he did it in front of a bunch of other kids.”

“Like father, like son,” Vincent said.  “Shame.”

“Yeah.”

“Have you killed him yet?”

“No.  I was going to do it right away, but Billy stopped me.  He wants to do something else with him instead.”

“Not kill him?  How can Billy even think such a thing?”

“Billy thinks we should make a huge object lesson out of Chris.  Make an example that everyone will see, and I guess, keep remembering for a long time.”

“Okay, maybe your son has a good idea there.  He is a Bastien.  He’s always shown that.  What did he have in mind?”

“You’ll never believe it Dad.  Never!”  He passed the paper he had brought with him over to his father.

Vincent read the paper.  “This is most unusual,” he said as he started reading through it again.

“That’s for sure.  If it was me, I’d just put a bullet in the kid’s brain and be done with it.”

“But a town cocksucker?”

“Yeah, I keep wondering what the people are going to think.”

“The people are going to think whatever we tell them to!” the judge replied.  “They always have, they always will.”

Tom nodded towards the paper.  “I think Billy’s got the right intent there, making an example that everyone will keep seeing.  I’m just not so sure about the direction he’s going with it.”

“But it was Billy that got insulted,” Vincent said.  “So as I see it, being the town judge, then I guess Billy ought to have some say in what happens.”

“I guess there’s that too,” Tom agreed.

Vincent read the paper through again, then made his decision and turned toward the doorway.  “Olivia!” he called.  Two seconds later, his wife was there.  Vincent held out the paper.  “We need you to type this up officially,” he told her.

“Olivia read the paper, then shook her head.  “Oh my.  You’re serious about this?”

“As a heart attack,” Vincent replied.  “The kid insulted Billy, and in front of everyone outright said he shouldn’t be allowed to rule this town someday.  So I think Billy should be allowed to dish out the kid’s punishment.  For a while anyway.  Eventually, he’s going to have to disappear…like his father.”

“I would agree,” Tom replied.

“You need the usual number of copies, I guess,” Olivia said.

“Maybe a few more besides,” Vincent told her.  “Tom can have his deputies start delivering them all over town tonight.  By tomorrow morning, that paper is going to be law.”
